DVD TASK FILE
Introduction
The DVD provides real-life illustrations of a number of key teaching activities and techniques 
through extracts from classes and interviews with teachers.
There are ten sections on the DVD, and each section consists of two parts. First, a short film 
sequence that focuses on a particular activity or technique, with extracts taken from one or more 
classes. This is followed by a discussion on the topic of the film sequence between the author and 
one (or two) of the teachers who appeared in the extract(s).
Each DVD section is accompanied by a series of tasks in the following pages. Some of these tasks 
should be used while viewing the DVD material; others can be used for further discussion and 
analysis of the topic. We recommend that you watch the film sequence and do the tasks before you 
watch the discussion with the teacher(s).
An answer key (page 251) is provided after the DVD Task File for those tasks where it is possible to 
provide specific or suggested answers. The symbol •" beside an exercise indicates that answers are 
given for that exercise in the answer key.
