Difficulties in teaching negation

The methods of the research:
1) Socio-pedagogical: critical analysis of the scientific literature, theoretical generalization, description of the interference phenomena on the basis of research literature.
2) Comparative: comparative description of ways of expressing negation, analysis of the examples of the negation in target and native languages and typical students’ errors.
3) Projecting and modeling: construction of ways for avoiding mistakes in learning negation.
4) Pedagogical experiment: observation and analysis of students’ works and experimental teaching.
5) Statistic: qualitative and quantitative data processing.
The sources of the research paper while investigating the given qualification work the researcher has widely used the works of well-known linguists and the Internet web sites. which are given in the references that follows the conclusion.
The theoretical value of the research paper is gathered, summarized and identified sources contribute the development of methodology of identification and avoiding difficulties in teaching negation in the ELT.
The practical value of this work is that the suggested materials and the results of the research can be used by teachers of foreign language at all levels of education to avoid difficulties described in the research.
The research paper consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusion, and the list of used literature.
The first chapter is devoted to the study of background of the problem and its development to present day, mainly the origin and development of the notion of negation and the problems of negation in logic and linguistics. The main terms and theories are discussed in the first chapter.
The second chapter is devoted to the comparative analysis of negation category in English, Uzbek and Russian, which reveals a great difference of expression of negation in these languages. This information helped us to identify main difficulties which the teacher may face while teaching this theme. The chapter also reveals a variety of means expressing negation as the main difficulty in teaching this category in English classes. Additionally, it discusses ways of overcoming difficulties while learning English negation.
The analysis of techniques and activities used in the process of teaching foreign languages to avoid difficulties are given in the third chapter of the work. It analyses teaching pupils the usage of English negation in the English classroom, discusses the results of experimental research based on teaching the pupils the usage negation in the English classroom.
