IV. Why this course ?
This course enlightens various types of silk producing insects, viz., Tasar, Eri and
Muga and their production techniques. Thishighlights wild rearing in-situ in forest
area and also semi domestication of wild non-mulberry silks. This also helps to
explore possibilities of new sericigenous insects and other minor silk producers.
V. Aim of the course
This course is designed to provide basic and applied aspects of non-mulberry
sericulture. This course will approach multi-disciplinary perspective, it aims to
equip students to identify, evaluate and explore new species of sericigenous insects
to address the tribals self employment programme.
