Chapter II The analysis of the extract translation


2.1. About the author, idea, main characters

Main person of the Uzbek literature, very sharp figure, very respectively


writer, journalist, modern literature, people‘s writer Utkir Khashimov was born
in 1941on August 5 in Chilanzar district of Tashkent city. His father Ataullahan Khashimov worked at the combine than worked in a camp that belonged to that combine. Utkir Khashimov left the world on May24, 2013.
When he was a child, he chased after his brothers and went to school which was relating to Dumbirabad district. These ideas were widely opened by the writer in his novel about "Between the two doors".
In 1958, he graduated from high school and in 1964 he joined the faculty of journalism at the Tashkent State University (present National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirza Ulugbek), and at the same time also worked at the edition. His first collection of essays was published under the title "Po‘lat chavandoz" when he was studying in his third year at the university. In 1963 April 17, the first of his art collection "To‘rt maktub" was published in the newspaper ―Toshkent haqiqati‖ (since that time has been celebrated as a holiday). His first novel, "Cho‘l havosi" was published in the tenth issue of the Journal Star of the East. The national writer Abdulla Kakhkhar wished all the best for the activities of Utkir Khashimov. In 1965 he published a collection of stories titled "Gunafsha". In the same year, his drama "Odamalar nima derkin" was the first time shown by TV."Bahor qaytmaydi," "Qlbingga quloq sol", "Dunyoning ishlari," "Ikki kara, ikki besh " stories, ―Nur borki, soya bor, ―Ikki eshik orasi, ―Tushda kechgan umrlar, ―Daftar hoshiyasidagi bitiklar, ―Quyosh tarozusi, ―Sirli yulduz, ―Uzun kechalar, ―O‘zbeklar, ―Badbaxtning tutqini‖, ―Shumlik‖, ―So‘qqabosh bevagina‖ novelsand other books have been very well accepted by readers. The books of
"Notanish orol" and "Yettinchi mo‘jaza" have psychological support young initiators. By compositions of Utkir Khashimov as ―”Hazon bo‘lgan bahor, ―Vijdon dorisi, ―Inson sadoqati, ―Qatagon, ―To‘lar muborak” were shot for television films. Thousands of several works of Utkir Hashimov were put in the educational process in schools, high schools and colleges. His four volumes of Chosen compositions as "Notanish orol", "Umr savdosi", "Hazon bo‘lan bahor" and "Hadikli tushlar" thousands of times were published on demand.His works like "Shamol esaveradi", "Bahor qaytmaydi" "Qalbingga quloq sol", "Dunyoning ishlari" and "Ikki eshik orasi", "Tushda kechgan umrlar" are very much appreciated by readers. When every time you take his books you see that the artist is familiar. And say Oh! Here is a woman like my mother or that man so looks like to our neighbor from our yard. You think that you know the intellectual abilities of the man. A gifted writer tries to write stories of life and tries to suit with decorative knowledge. The writer in each work individually suit to each staff and opens exactly their character12.
The book entitled "Nur borki, soya bor, ―Dunyoning ishlari, ―Tushda kechgan umrlar have been translated into other languages. About six of ten books were translated into other languages. And as the writer says, "If the reader cries and laughs and worries during reading my compositions, I think I'm the happiest man in the world. When I write about the person in my story I have always tried to show our dignity openly”.
The national writer Utkir Khashimov in total wrote three great novels, eight novels, three dramatic stories, as well as five great novels.
Utkir Khashimov not only wrote in the Uzbek and also in Tajik, Russian languages. Many compositions of the writer such as tragedy, satire, comedy, drama, psychological drama had been welcomed warmly by the readers. His stage works were acting in many theaters in the country. More than sixty of his compositions were translated into the Kirgiz, Tajik, Kazakh and Turkmen languages. The writer translated other world writers‘ dramatical compositions into the Uzbek language.
Many of his works have been translated into English, Japanese, Indian and other languages.
The entitled "Nur borki, soya bor" was translated into the Bulgar language.Story of "Dunyoning ishlari" has been translated into the Vietnamese language and published as a form of book. The story is titled "Tushada kechgan umrlar" was published in the journal ―Icarus in the United States13
Utkir Khashimov considered a great figure in art- literature, currently he works at the edition named after theatre. During the fifty years he was able to publish his works in the volume of two million as well as more than seventy books of his compositions were presented for readers.
The author of the novel “Where there is light, there are shadows” (“Nur Borki, Soy Bor”) [21] Utkir Khoshimov raises important social and moral problems, and first of all, such an eternal problem as good and evil. The author contrasts in his heroes high human qualities such as kindness, faithfulness to word and duty, honesty, decency to their antipodes - selfishness, vanity, lies, meanness, parasitism. Does not occur there is no doubt which heroes are sympathetic to the writer, and which cause his contempt. The hero of the novel - journalist Sherzod embodies the ideological - aesthetic and humanistic credo of the author. True to his duty, Sherzod fights for justice to triumph. The struggle for progress, the desire for light is the main leitmotif and pathos of this work. The lofty goals set by Sherzod, his loyalty to ideals, his decency became a kind of embodiment of the best features of our contemporaries.
The versatility of the character of Sherzod, the scale of his personality and activity is revealed by the author in his relations with various people. Sherzod’s clashes with the director of the department store, Saki Sakievich and Sirazhiddin, who cares not about science but about the degree of candidate of sciences, with the chairman of Tiniksai temper his character, gives a new impetus to his pursuit of everything bright. Here is what Utkir Khoshimov himself writes about his work, noting at the same time that the author’s aesthetic principles are reflected to a certain extent: “In addition to talent, the availability of vital material and skill, one more thing is needed to write a novel. The light of a human, writer's heart. If there is no light that illuminates all pages of the novel, gives them warmth, the reader will begin to yawn.
The novel raises important moral and spiritual problems of our time, subjecting them to ideological and artistic analysis and comprehension, the writer undoubtedly achieves success. It is felt that everything the writer writes about has passed through his mind and heart, that he himself believes in the triumph of decency and justice. Indeed, speculators, swindlers, crooks, thieves, their “philosophy” of permissiveness are hated by all honest people.
In Saki Sakievich, in his wife, in his son, in the scientific adviser of his son, far from true science, in the “manufacturer” in the head of Gortorg, the reader does not see any traits that could impress a normal decent person. Saki Sakievich, who calls the head of Gortorg “boss”, cannot cry out for him, creeps before him with only one goal, so that he can continue to do his dirty work with impunity. Behind him, he calls his boss "dyldoy", "the leader of fools." He insultingly says: “If not for responsibility, I would have shot this hermaphrodite!” (P. 73). Saki Sakievich is ready to lay his soul to the devil, if only the "boss" would not swallow it, "like a worm."
The character of the main negative character of this work by Saki Sakievich is presented in all its versatility. The author paints his relationship with honest and dishonest people in a hospital, at work in a department store, in his family. Such people of a "shadow" nature, as if snatched from life, they exist now with all their sinister surroundings.
There is a thought in this novel that runs through the whole work with a red thread. This idea is formulated by the chairman of the committee of national control Suleiman Rustamovich: “As our life becomes brighter, shadows appear more distinctly. The uglier the shadows look, the more light is around. The more light, the less shadow. But the shadows themselves will not disappear. To do this, we must make our life even brighter, we must destroy the shadow ”.

The author devotes many pages to showing the nascent sense of love. And this, relatively speaking, love line in the novel, all the episodes associated with it, serve to reveal the rich spiritual world of the protagonist. The plot - compositional construction of the novel "Where there is light, there is shadow", with all its author striving for artistic originality, there are obvious creative miscalculations. The author introduces episodes into the narrative that do not fit into the development of the main estimated line and violate the overall compositional structure of the work. Thus, episodes of Sherzod’s trip to the village and to metro builders stand apart from the main storyline. The scenes of Farida’s visit to the hospital to visit Sherzoda, as well as Sherzod’s trip to the Pamir, are too detailed. Unnecessary details distract the reader’s attention from the main problem, violate the compositional harmony of the novel, and serve only its “completeness”. But in general, the novel “Where there is light, there is shadow” (“Nur borki, soybean boron”) is a significant phenomenon in our literature. He raises the most important social and moral problems of our time, gives them an interesting artistic interpretation.
