Basketball Basketball (derived from the English word basketball, basket — Basket, ball — Ball) is a collective sport in which five players each participate. The main goal from the game is to get as much combo as possible by dropping the ball into the basket, which is strengthened to a height of 3,05 m with the help of a hand. Five players are involved in each team. The strongest basketball league in the world is also the National Basketball Association (MBA). The league's top-ranked professional basketball players have been defending the honor of the US t/j in major competitions since the 1992 Olympics. The games of the Olympiad scored the most US t/j goals in the basketball tournament — 12 times, only in the USSR 2 times (1972, 1988), Yugoslavia (1980) and Argentina (2004) received the title of champion of the Olympiad
