IELTS Writing Task 2: can we always 'partly agree'? 
Read the question below. Do you think it's possible to partly agree? Is it possible to write a balanced 
answer? 
Although more and more people read news on the Internet, newspapers will remain the most 
important source of news. Do you agree or disagree?

Be careful with this type of question. Here's why: 
Because of the word "most", 
I don't think we can 'partly agree'
. Either we believe that 
newspapers will remain the most popular source of information (agree), or we believe that 
they won't (disagree). This probably explains why the question doesn't say "to what extent do you 
agree or disagree?". 
However, 
there is a way to write a balanced answer
: we need to disagree. We can say that we 
disagree that newspapers will remain the most important source of news, because we believe that the 
Internet will become equally important. This answer allows us to write one main paragraph about 
each source of news. 
Task:
Try writing a 'disagree' introduction in the way that I've suggested above.
