Kurash - an Uzbek word means - " the goal of an honest way "In those ancient times it was a duel and public physical entertainment at traditional festivals , feasts and weddings . Mention of it can be found in many ancient literary sources.Nearly 2,500 years ago, Herodotus , the famous Greek philosopher and historian , in his monumental work "History" mentions IKA descriptions of customs and traditions of the ancient peoples of Uzbekistan.
Centuries passed , and Kurash has become one of the most beloved and respected traditions of the peoples inhabiting the territory of modem Uzbekistan. Uzbeks say that IKA is in their genes , in the blood. Today Uzbekistan has more than two million wrestle’s
The first new President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the meeting with Mr. Yusupov in 1992 fully supported the idea of making IKA international sport , and through him to the world with a rich and ancient history, traditions andphilosophy of the Uzbek people.
In Uzbekistan Kurash event usually held at the football stadium which was held for the prize of the President of Uzbekistan.

  During this tournament in Tashkent, the historical event . September 6, 1998 by representatives of 28 countries in Europe , Asia and Pan America established the International Kurash Association - the official international sport.

This is perhaps the most rapid development in the history of world sport. By the end of 2006 I AC federation unites over 80 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, Pan America and Oceania

  The main objective of the IAC - is the spread and development of Cyrus in the largest possible number of States to further its inclusion in the program of continental Games and then the Olympics.

  To do this, IAC President and other members of the executive committee of the association since 1998 conducted painstaking efforts to establish friendly relations with the leaders of various countries and international sports organizations.

  In May 2005 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne opened a year-long exhibition entitled " In search of the origins of the sport." Much of the exhibition is devoted Kurash , its history , traditions and modem development.
  

It is an affordable , entertaining , secure and fast-paced sport. It is a synthesis of philosophy and wisdom of thousands of years with the dynamism of the modem globalized world.
