WOMEN’S UPBRINGING ROLE IN HEROIC EPICS 
 
Abstract. One of the sensitive issues of heroic epics is the systematic reflection of 
women’s upbringing function. All epics in general are tuned to the expression of 
nations’ moral values. It is not a coincidence that women take a leading position in epics. 
Because, in the perception of Oghuz’s society, mother is incarnation of upbringing, 
morality and honesty. “Kitabi-Dede Korkud”, “Koroghlu”, “Qachaq Nebi”, “Qara 
Malik”, “Qachaq Kerem”, “Qandal Naghı”, “Deli Alı”, “Qachaq Suleyman”, “Molla 
Nur”, “Samed bey”, “Sattarxan” and other epics are typical examples for this. The 
courage demonstrated by women in difficult battles, the role they play in the harmony 
of the family and society, upbringing of children are reflected in epics from diverse 
aspects. These all clarify the women’s outstanding role throughout centuries.
