Chronic tonsillitis firmly occupies one of the leading places in otorhinolaryngological practice. 
The prevalence of chronic tonsillitis among ENT pathology remains high. Chronic tonsillitis is 
often characterized by a persistent course with a high probability of metatonsillar complications. In 
recent years, it has been convincingly proven that the tonsils are actively involved in the formation 
of local and humoral immunity. Therefore, the problem of choosing the optimal method for treating 
chronic tonsillitis remains relevant. With this disease, serious pathological changes occur in other 
organs and systems.
This significantly worsens the health of both children and adults, leading to disability, which 
subsequently leads to the loss of a large number of working days due to temporary disability, 
especially in the event of exacerbations and complications, often serious. This causes great damage 
to the population and the state, in this regard, the issue of prevention and timely treatment of chronic 
tonsillitis is of great social importance.
Acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses are also common 
in the practice of an otorhinolaryngologist. Long-term disturbance of nasal breathing due to the 
most common diseases such as curvature of the nasal septum, various forms of rhinitis, etc. leads to 
poor ventilation of the ostiomeotal complex and paranasal sinuses, which, in turn, leads to impaired 
drainage and aeration of their mucous membranes. Subsequently, the aggressiveness of pathogenic 
microorganisms increases, mucociliary transport decreases, which leads to sinusitis.
With various forms of sinusitis, one of the most common clinical symptoms is nasal discharge of 
a different nature. The drainage of inflammatory exudate from the nose into the oropharynx leads 
to permanent infection of the tonsils and the development of chronic tonsillitis or worsening of its 
course.
