 According to biographer Seymour 
Hersh, Kennedy died not because he angered the Mafi a or 
Cuban exiles or anyone other than Lee Harvey Oswald, but 
because of his debilitating back injuries. Kennedy, who often 
took narcotic pain medication for his back, was wearing an 
extra-rigid back brace for the Dallas trip, which made it im-
possible for him to duck the third (and fatal) shot. But all this 
talk  of  assassinations  is  making  us  depressed.  C’mon,  let’s 
get a drink. . . .
