format. The specificity of such studies lies in the fact that the traditional scheme (picture 1) of 
communication “researcher-respondent”, in addition to tools, also includes technical means that 
provide communication via the Internet or another communication channel. The second element 
is the method of communication (the platform used for contact. The main difference between the 
surveys technologies considered is the type of communication channel used: the Internet, a 
telephone channel or an interface. 
An analysis of the survey technique used with the use of modern information and 
communication technologies shows that there are currently two approaches. The first of them is 
informational, where ICT appears solely as a communication channel, a way of accessing the 
respondent. This approach leads to a "paper" view of the toolkit, i.e. to an attempt to bring the 
form of the electronic questionnaire as close as possible to the traditional one. In the second - 
virtual approach, the main emphasis is on adapting the tools to the Internet environment and, as a 
result, improving the quality (validity and reliability) of the information collected. This type of 
toolkit is "interactive" because it can only exist as dynamic interactive elements of the web 
environment; it cannot be implemented on paper and presented as a source of reliable 
information. 
Classification of sociological survey methods based on ICT, assessment of their 
advantages and disadvantages allows choosing the most optimal and rational approach to the 
practical solution of a specific problem of studying the standard of living of the population. We 
propose the following classification of existing technologies for collecting sociological 
information using ICT (Table 1). The following types of surveys can be distinguished.
