Requirements for the UTB Greater Texas Foundation Scholars Program Grant

To be eligible to apply for this grant, a student must:

• 
  Be a 2014 graduate of a Texas Early College High School
  
• 
  Have a minimum of 30 college credit hours
  
• 
  Be a Texas resident
  
• 
  Be eligible for admission to UTB
  
• 
  Apply to the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB) for Fall 2014
  
• 
  Plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from UT Brownsville (UTB)
  
• 
  Obtain financial aid from UTB in grants/scholarships
  
• 
  Have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 (on a 4 point system) for college hours completed

Application Process

All of the materials listed above are required for a complete registration packet. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Recipients will be selected by the UTB GTF Scholars Program Grant Committee and will be notified by mail. This committee will be made up of the Vice President for Enrollment Services, the Executive Director of Enrollment Services, and the UTB GTF Scholars Program Coordinator.

A student who is awarded the UTB GTF Scholars Program Grant is eligible to receive between $1,000 and $4,000 per year for two years. The award will vary according to the individual’s financial aid package. Grant funds can be used for all attendance costs.

Award Requirements

• 
  Complete 30 hours of college work each calendar year (beginning Fall semester 2014)
  
• 
  Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better
  
• 
  Continue full-time progression through fall-spring or fall-spring-summer semesters
  
• 
  Meet all semester requirements for attendance, participation, and completion of program assignments
  
• 
  Comply with advice of the Program Coordinator
