Each button on the toolbar of a word-processing program is an instance

of  a Button  class, and  each  button shares  some general  characteristics

that all buttons possess.

In a program used to manage a hotel, thePenthouse and theBridalSuite

are  specific  instances  of  HotelRoom.  Organizing  program  components

into classes and objects reflects a natural way of thinking.

Class

A class is a collection of similar type of objects. In fact, object is an instance

of  a  class.  A  class  is  created  with data  members  and  the member  functions.

Once  a  class  is  defined,  any  number  of  objects  belonging  to  this  class  can  be

created.  This  implies  that  the  objects  possess  all  the  properties  of  the  class  to

which they belong.

Class = Storage + Behaviour

For example consider a class called shape. Then, objects of this class would

be  circle,  rectangle,  triangle  etc.  These  objects  are  instances  of  the  class  shape

and exhibit all the properties of the class shape. The statement shape circle;

Creates an object circle belonging to the class shape.
