Abstract

Inflation is the loss of purchasing power of a currency over time. The pace at which a basket of selected goods and services in an economy's average price level rises over time may be used to produce a quantitative approximation of the rate at which purchasing power falls. A rise in the overall level of prices, sometimes expressed as a percentage, means that a unit of money now buys less than it did before. Inflation is a phrase used to express the overall impact of price changes across a wide variety of products and services, and it represents the increase in the price level of goods and services in an economy over time with a single figure. Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon, in the sense that it is and can only be generated by the amount of money growing faster than the rate of rise in output. After being slammed by two Covid waves, India's economy is slowly rebounding, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but the government should be wary of inflationary pressures. As the recovery progresses, the agency recommends a gradual decrease in monetary policy assistance. The central bank's monetary policy is the most important tool for lowering inflation. Most central banks use high interest rates to combat inflation.
