Preconditions for the acquisition of the course:
Civil Law General Part is the beginning course in the studies of other Civil Law (Private Law) disciplines. It is to be acquired simultaneously or after the courses of the General Theory of Law and the Fundamentals of Roman Law.
Summary of the Course:
Civil Law General Part is an introductory course in the studies of civil law in which students have to acquire knowledge on civil law (private law) as a branch of law, the theory of civil law, the relations of civil law, the sources of civil law, participants of the relations of civil law: physical persons and legal entities, the objects of civil law: articles, securities, etc., the fundamentals of the origin of civil rights and obligations, the implementation of civil rights and obligations and the fundamentals of the protection of civil rights.

Thematic structure of the course:
the course consist of two parts: employment law and social insurance rights. The main labour employment institutions in accordance with the Labour Code of the Republic of Latvia. Employment law subject, method, concept, principles, sources, labour contract, working hours and leisure time, salary, disciplinary and material responsibility of employees, labour protection, labour disputes, social insurance of employees.
Social insurance rights acquaint with the concept of social insurance of the state, state institutions and mechanism which implements it, acquaints with state pensions and allowances.
