Get off is a non-literal extension of this idea. Originally, I think, druggie
slang from the 60s, it means to get
off
from their boring everyday lives on
the ground, and to 'fly' in the world of drugged fantasy. Now, it means
anything that gets you really excited.
Get off on means the stimulus.
Steve gets off on motorbikes. He has already had several accidents, but
he won't stop.
By the time you read this, this verb may be very dated. That is to say,
very old-fashioned.
GET OFF is a
two-word verb without an object
No problem.
GET OFF ON is a
three-word verb
. No problem either.
