was 'covered' or 'hidden' and now it is in the open.)

A door fits the doorway. Your car fits the garage, we hope. How many
bottles fit in a case? Usually twelve. Do your feet fit your shoes? If not,
you are going to be uncomfortable. Can you fit in to last year's clothes?

Fit means to fully occupy a space. How many people can fit into that
room?

Fit in also has a social meaning.

The commonest meaning of fix is to repair something. Another meaning is
to arrange or prepare. Americans fix breakfast, for example.
fix up
Fix up means the same as
do up
. You fix something
up
to a higher
standard. Sometimes people buy an old house cheap and fix it up to sell
for a profit. Such a house is often called a 'fixer-upper'

When something moves and you move after it, you are following it. Every
leader has followers (by definition). A follower of fashion always
keeps up

fashion. She is always in fashion.
