Here,
over
means 'finished', 'complete' or 'we don't have to think about it
any more'. Like be over and blow over.
Many people don't enjoy visiting the dentist very much. So they schedule
the appointment for as early in the day as possible. They want to get it
over with, get it
finished
, so they can relax for the rest of the day.
GET IT OVER is a
separable two-word verb
GET IT OVER WITH is a
three-word verb, but it is separable
. Notice where the object goes.
CAREFUL
get round
George's little daughter Gina is only five years old, but she can get
round her father whenever she wants. Everything she wants, she gets.
You want to go down a forest path, and there is a huge tree standing
there. It has been there for several hundred years and it is not going to
move for you. So you have to get
round
it, however difficult it may be.
Frequently in this life, your obstacle will be another person (who is as
stubborn as a tree and is not going to move for you). So what do you do?
You have to get round him. You have to persuade him.
Inseparable two-word verb

It's funny, but Paul never seems to get round to doing the ironing. There


is never enough time.
Get always implies at least a little difficulty. (Go in a room is simple, get in

Get round is harder.

get through something you must be inside it and trying to get outside at
the far side.
If you have a lot of work, don't you feel as if you are inside it?

have similar, but not identical meanings.
Today, I got through a lot of work. (So I'm tired.)
Today, I
went though
a lot of work. (So I'm happy.)
Today, I ran through a lot of work. (Easy. Do you want me to do more?)
Inseparable two-word verb
No problem.
