Article: College Knowledge, presented by the Educational Opportunity Centers, discusses college admission, the financial aid process, and career exploration Thursday, September 22, 6:45-7:45. Registration is required but the program is free.
The library’s giant annual autumn book sale will be held four days: a preview Thursday, September 29, 5-8 p.m. with a $5 entrance fee; Friday and Saturday, September 30 and October 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; and a $5/bag sale Monday, October 3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The library provides the bags.
The Savvy Consumer, presented by AARP Pennsylvania, focuses on fraud prevention Tuesday, October 4, 4-5 p.m. Topics of discussion include online safety, identity theft, investment fraud, and potential scams. The program is free but registration is required.
Perkins Restaurant is sponsoring a Tunkhannock Library Day Saturday, October 8, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Without cost to themselves, customers may present a ticket to their server and the library will receive a percentage of the price of the meal. Tickets are available at the library.
HealthChoices hosts a Health Care workshop, Wednesday, October 5, 6:30-7:30. All aspects of the Marketplace will be covered, as well as Medicaid, CHIP, and other topics of interest. Registration is required but the program is free.
Tickets for Ladies Night Bingo are going quickly and an early sell-out is expected. Tickets are $25. Bingo will be held Saturday, November 5, 7-10 p.m. at the Triton Hose Company. Triton pizza and other delicious snacks will be for sale; BYOB.
Fundraisers are necessary to library operations. They help pay for programs, materials, and maintenance costs. No library tax is assessed. The Tunkhannock Library is required by the State Library to raise $141,000 ($5 per capita) in order to qualify for $50,000 in aid.
Without the generous and caring support from hundreds of community members, the library would be unable to meet the State Library criteria. The diverse number of library programs and wide range of materials available is only possible because the people of this area are invested in keeping Wyoming County an appealing place to live.
