Reservation, guaranteed: A reservation in which the hotel agrees to hold a room until the guest
arrives or until the hotel’s designated check-out time the next day. Guests with a guaranteed
reservation who do not actually use their room (they are no-shows) will typically be charged for
the first night of their reservation period.
Reservation, advance payment deposit: A reservation in which the hotel agrees to accept a
guest’s reservation only upon full or partial prepayment of the established room rate charged.
Guests who have made an advance payment (deposit) will typically forfeit all or part of their
advance payment (deposit) if they are no-shows or stay for fewer days than covered by the
reservation.
