Learners 
work in groups to circulate the room and problem-solve different puzzles, games, and 
activities related to the different idioms. This is usually a big challenge, but it is a fun 
way to expose students to new idioms and also tests and practices their understanding 
of the idioms they learned throughout the year! Another fun idiom related game is 
holding an 
idiom paper fortune teller
.  
These are just fun to have in classroom as an 
early finisher activity or as a brain break where learners attempt to guess the meaning 
of new idioms. 
Games provide a great pedagogical value for language teachers with many 
advantages when they introduced in foreign language classrooms. Moreover, the role 
of games in order to decrease anxiety of using the target language cannot be ignored. 
Games can be accepted as useful and effective tools that provide more interesting, 
enjoyable, and effective teaching. It is clear that, language games indicate that games 
play a crucial role in foreign language teaching and learning contexts in a variety of 
areas. 
It is fact that all idiom word lists for learners help learners of all ages through 
word study, activities and idiom practice games to better understand and utilize them 
in writing, reading and everyday conversation.
