Pri kratkotrajnih ali parokszimalnih motnjah zavesti so večkrat dileme, ker kljub poškodbi glave,
motnje zavesti niso posledica poškodbe možganov.
Če so pri poškodbi glave poškodovani tudi možgani, potem je stanje zavesti moteno. Časovno so te
motnje izražene v sekundah, minutah pa vse tja do pol ure. V primeru, da je možganska poškodba težka,
je tudi zavest motena dalj časa.
To so vsi pacienti po poškodbi glave, ki so klinično brez vidnih znakov poškodbe, ali pa z
lacerokontuznimi ranami in z anamnezo ali heteroanamnezo, da so bili kratek čas brez zavesti. 
Diferencialne variante so: epilepsia, syncopa, narcolepsia ali pa cataplexia.. Če niti enega od naštetih
stanj ni mogoče diferencirati, potem ni bilo kratkotrajne motnje zavesti. 
Zaključek
Ocenitev morebitnega kratkotrajnega stanja motene zavesti ali pa stanja nezavesti po poškodbi glave
je zanesljiva, če se ugotovi postravmatska amnezija in motnje: respiratorne funkcije, zeničnih reakcij,
funkcije bulbomotorike in ravnotežja. 
Abstract
Background
There are often dilemmas with shortlasting or transitory disturbances of consciousness because in
spite of an head injury, disturbances is not the result of damaged brains.
Only when with the head injury brains are damaged, the state condition of consciousness is
disturbed.The course of the time is expressed in seconds, minutes and even to half an hour.In a case of
a sever brain damage, the consciousness can be possibly disturbed even longer.
These are all patients with head injuries without clinically visible signesof damage, or patients with
lacerocontusions wounds and following accompanied with anamnesis or heteroanamnesis being
uncosciousness for a short time, must be treated very carefully.
But there are all other different states: epilepsy, syncope, narcolepsy or catalepsy. If none of these
states is impossible to identify, there was not no disturbance of consciousness.
Conclusion
To estimate a possible shortlasting state of disturbed consciousness or unconsciousness after an head
injury is certain postraumatic amnesia is identified and disturbances like are: breathing disturbances,
changes of pupil reactions, bulbomotoric and balance disfunction
