providing reference and information support (using automatic dictionaries, glossaries,
systems for selecting antonyms and synonyms).
Thus, the introduction of computer technologies creates prerequisites for
the intensification of the educational process. They allow the practical use of
psychological and pedagogical developments that ensure the transition from
mechanical learning of knowledge to mastering the ability to independently acquire
new knowledge. Computer technologies contribute to the disclosure, preservation and
development of personal qualities of students.
In conclusion, I would like to note once again that ICT in English lessons
(and in extracurricular activities in preparation for lessons and self - education) is an
excellent assistant teacher, which should not be underestimated, but should not be used
only for the sake of novelty. Improper use of this tool can lead to demotivation of both
the teacher and his students.

Annotation: Foreign language is included in the basic part of humanitarian,
social and economic unit of the curriculum and as a discipline of study for three years,
which, from the point of view of the drafters of the Federal state educational standard
of higher professional education of third generation, is sufficient to capture students
basic communicative competence in professional sphere foreign language
communication.

However, a simple calculation of the hours allocated to the discipline "Foreign
language" and then to the discipline "Basics of scientific and technical translation",
"Business English" and others, proves that the implementation of this goal is
questionable. A foreign language is allocated two hours per week for one group. It is
not necessary to talk about effective training in such temporary conditions.
In conditions of lack of time to master the main structures of a foreign language,
the teacher is forced to solve numerous problems when teaching English as a profile-
oriented discipline.
First, there is an obvious contradiction between the requirements of the Federal
standard to take into account professional specifics when learning a foreign language
and the amount of time allotted for the development of the discipline. What is the
orientation of students to the professional sphere of activity? Mastering a certain set of
lexical units (a thematic dictionary that displays the key concepts and terms of the field
in which the graduate will work), syntactic and grammatical structures specific to
