WAYS TO INTRODUCE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN PROJECT 
MANAGEMENT DURING THE PERIOD OF THE PANDEMIC

At present, the pandemic that started in March 2020 is close to an end but it left 
undeniable changes in the way we work in the organization. COVID-2019 pandemic 
disrupted the economies all over the world and many businesses had big losses. The 
COVID-19 The pandemic affected public health directly

. Along with its effect on 
public health, the pandemic has also obstructed the operations of supply chains, 
sustainable economic development, and the performance of supplies

. 
 
Digital technology has become the main tool for operations and interactions due 
to lockdowns. There have been changes in the workplace and the way employees work 
as remote working has become the main trend. From Diab-Bahman, R. Together with 
Al-Enzi, A. (2020) 192 employees from Kuwait who are currently operating from 
home due to lockdown conditions were surveyed. The study compared the old working 
conditions (OWC) to the current working conditions (CWC) and found that workers 
prefer a versatile remote working environment and want improvements in the old

working conditions. This also shows that businesses that want to remain competitive 
must offer their workers flexibility even after the pandemic

.
Therefore, digital transformation in the organizations is inevitable and project 
management also needs to shift towards utilizing more digital technology such as 
project management software with cloud service. As Mark a. Langley, Project 
Management Institute President and CEO said that: “Project leaders are becoming even 
more essential as organizations recognize that strategy is implemented through projects 
and programs, and as disruptive technology frees them from mundane routines, 
providing more opportunity to innovate.”

This further signifies the importance of 
introducing digital technology into project management to stay competitive in the 
market. There are also many issues that organizations face in implementing digital 
technologies such as project management software. The Digital Talent Gap study by 
LinkedIn and Capgemini shows that 55 percent of companies say the gap between the 
digital talent they need and the talent they can find today has increased in the last few 
years. Similarly, 54% of companies state their digital transformation efforts are 
hampered by this void. Digital-capable project managers are important in this setting

. 
The purpose of the studies is to suggest ways to introduce digital technology to 
project management in organizations.
Objectives 
-to analyze the previous research to give new perspectives about digital 
technology in project management; 
-to recommend the digital technology tools that are essential to more effective 
project management; 
-to suggest ways to introduce digital technology into project management. 
The object of research. 
The object of this research is digital technology in project management. 
The subject of research. 
The subject of the research is the ways of introducing digital technology into 
project management.
The methodology of research. 
In this research, a systematic literature review was applied with a formulated 
research question that uses systematic explicit methods to identify, select, and critically 
appraise relevant research from formerly published studies related to the question at 
hand.
Current technological advances have created the possibility of utilizing new ways 
to assist the mission managers to run the tasks more efficaciously and correctly. 
however, taking full gain of this potential requires knowing the project management 
technique, IT skills, and the areas of project management that can be progressed using

information technology. Firstly, there is a need for defining the main terminology and 
concepts to better understand the ways to integrate project management and digital 
technology.
