luctant to reduce or limit the harmful effects of the field? The authors see 
the answer in the fact that electricity has penetrated so much into a per-
son's life and has become indispensable, so a person tries not to notice the 
negative aspects of its use on purpose; 

a comprehensive consideration of the questionnaire results suggests that 
all aspects of the problem of environmental pollution by electromagnetic 
fields from physical concepts to personal actions of a person are very 
poorly developed. The level of competence in the field of electromagnetic 
pollution among students of power engineering specialties is extremely 
low. 
It is urgent to start correcting the situation (especially in connection with 
the rapid spread of mobile phones) and raise the level of literacy in the field of 
electromagnetic pollution. As an example, here are some recommendations for 
such an aspect of the problem as awareness:

introducing a new separate subject (discipline) in schools (secondary and 
higher education institutions) or supplementing existing ones with the 
problem of electromagnetic pollution. During lessons it is necessary to 
give an initial (in-depth) understanding of electromagnetic fields, some 
simple recommendations on how to protect your body from its harmful ef-
fects, normative and technical and legal documents (for secondary and 
higher education institutions); 

media coverage on electromagnetic pollution problems as well as offering 
courses and seminars devoted to this problems at work; 

creation of special organizations carrying out activities in this direction 
(e.g. measuring the electric field strength at the workplace, etc.). 
Thus, competence can be considered as a fairly effective way of protect-
ing against the consequences of electromagnetic pollution of the environment, 
provided that a person has the necessary minimum level of knowledge about 
electromagnetic pollution. Regardless of occupation, profession, gender and age, 
every person is affected by the problem of environmental pollution by electro-
magnetic fields of a man-made nature. Therefore, not only a radio engineer, 
electrical engineer, etc., but also people whose specialty or interests are not re-
lated to them, should know about electromagnetic fields and their action, at least 
in general terms.
