Trainees discuss the three questions from the quote in small groups, using real-life 

examples to support their discussions. After a few minutes, open up the discussion to 

include the whole class. You may need to check they understand the meaning of the 

phrase resign ourselves to (= accept that we can do nothing about). Avoid confirming 

trainees’ suggestions until they have also discussed the question in exercise 1.
