FRONT OFFICE SEMANTICS Employer-of-choice: Concept that the hospitality operation is a preferred place of employment within
the community by those who have alternative employment opportunities.
In some hotels a follow-up orientation session is held several weeks (or longer)
after the initial orientation. This allows employees to provide input about their ini-
tial job experiences. Their information can be used to help revise and improve the
hotel’s orientation program.
After the new front office employee has received general information about the
property during orientation, the induction process begins. Induction acquaints the
new employee with specific information that should be known by all employees in
the front office department.
