Budget (economy) limited-service hotels were among the first to be developed
in the United States. Popular brands include Accor’s Motel 6, Choice’s Econo Lodge,
and Cendant’s Super 8. These brands are attractive to owners and investors because
they are relatively inexpensive to build and simple to operate. Travelers are attracted
by low room rates and, often, convenient locations.
