5.2.3
Assistance for Communicable Diseases Control by Other Donors
(1)
Type of Assistance
Kenya introduced its PRSP in 1999 and it has continued to enact health care reforms as
part of its regional decentralization policy, but most donors conduct bilateral
cooperation, and it has not established a common fund based on a sector-wide
approach (SWAps) as yet. Donor institutions established a Joint Interagency
Coordination Committee (JICC) to cover the six areas of gender issues, HIV/AIDS,
youth, monitoring and evaluation activities, public relations and emotional support in
order to prevent assistance activities from being duplicated in these areas. Donor
assistance in Kenya continues to follow this format.
