Implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic to High Schoolers’ Mental Health 
Abstract 
The present study aims at investigating the trend of depression and anxiety 
among the secondary and senior secondary students of Haryana in government and 
private rural and urban schools during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis It also aims at 
identifying the determinants of loneliness, sadness, depression and anxiety through an 
extensive survey which has helped in conducting a comparative analysis of the 
resultant impact of this critical situation on urban and rural children, boys and girls as 
well as government and private school children in Haryana. Various reports are 
telling that the most affected community is that of the migrant labourers or families 
who are away from their village/state to earn a living. This survey also supports in 
examining if there is any difference between the problems being faced by the 
migrants and the permanent residents of Haryana. Through this research survey, we 
are also going to understand how the state board and non-board classes are affected 
and how this is all affecting their career and job preparation.
