Various branches of SLA research tend to favour different kinds of data. The
descriptive works on language-use data gave grounds for claims about
“order” and
“sequence” of acquisition. Studies of individual learner differences mainly make use of
different types of verbal reports. Classroom interaction is studied by the group of
research methods which allows investigators to observe and describe the interactional
events taking place in a classroom. These data contribute to understanding how
learning opportunities are created and how different kinds of classroom interaction lead
