While this verb often corresponds to the French prendre, you need to watch out for a plethora of
connotations, metaphorical and literal, without French parallels. Because to take is more versatile
than prendre, it is imperative to avoid literal translations. For example:
Bus number 12 will take you to the airport.
should not be translated as:
XLe bus 12 vous prendra vers l’aéroport.
for that is not a French sentence. The correct sentence is:
Le bus 12 vous conduira à l’aéroport.
Similarly, we may take a trip, but being allergic to the idea of
