The consecutive clause

A consecutive clause can be introduced in two ways:

   Either by words illustrating a statement made in the main clause: de façon que, de 

manière que, en sorte que, si bien que, sans que.

◆

   Or by words describing the intensity of an action presented in the main clause: à tel/ce 

point que, à un tel point que, à un point que, si... que, tellement... que, tant que, tant/ 

tellement de, tel que, assez/trop/suffisamment... pour que.

Le site Internet de l’entreprise a été 

The company’s Internet site has been so

  complètement remanie, si bien que 

  thoroughly overhauled that I cannot find

  je ne retrouve plus rien. 

  anything anymore.

Ce pays est si endetté que son économie  This country is so much in debt that its economy

  est fragilisée. 

  has been weakened.
