General Information of Parkrour

  • Parkour, the practice of traversing obstacles in a man-made or natural environment through the use of running, vaulting, jumping, climbing, rolling, and other movements in order to travel from one point to another in the quickest and most efficient way possible without the use of equipment.

The creation of Parkour

  • The Parkour adventure began in France in the 1990s, in Lisses and Evry, in the outskirts of Paris. David Belle originally developed the Parkour concept according to precepts about the art of movement laid down by his father, who was a Parisian firefighter.

Why is it called parkour ?

  • The word parkour derives from parcours du combattant (obstacle course), the classic obstacle course method of military training proposed by Georges Hébert.

Rules

  • General rule when climbing in parkour is “don't climb higher than you can jump down.” Besides basic “ladder” style climbing, there are some other climbing techniques to be aware of. Wall runs allow you to climb up a really high wall, really fast. The wall run is a deceptively complex movement.

Is Parkour useful sport ?

  • It doesn't just train one group of muscles; it trains all of the muscles, and also balance, coordination, agility, quick thinking, and adapting yourself to changing situations. It's a mental workout and it's a physical workout

Parkour can save your life !

  • Here are a few ways in which Parkour training can save your life. Parkour training can be a way of self-defense. The energy and type of mental calculation involved in parkour while estimating and calculating the movement between point A to B make you better placed in case bandits attack you in a dark corridor or alley.

Can we start Parkour any age ?

  • As there is no age limit to what sport you do, our bodies might not be the same as they used to but don't give up just because you have to be more careful. With Parkour our bodies are using different components and keeping both the mind and body active

Do Sports !

  • Make sure whatever training you are doing has a purpose and is replicating what format you are going into !
  • Keep trying and don't be afraid to ask for help !
  • Don’t forget to do homeworks !
