Theme: Happy birthday (My best birthday)

Objectives: To learn new words about birthday. To make a happy atmosphere in the class. To introduce a grammar rule Past simple.

Greeting, asking date and day, asking homework (pupils should have made an invitation card for last homework). 2 min

Warm-up activity.

For warm-up activity teacher shows a video to pp which is named “If you’re happy” and sing together. 3 min

Introduction:

1. 
   All pp wear birthday hats. Pp should divide into two groups. The first group and the second group. To introducing new topic teacher draws a crossword on the one side of the blackboard. On the other side T draws a tree which has some leaves. According to it, If pp don’t find any letter which is related to the topic, one by one the leaves are felt down. Pp should find the name of topic quickly and try to save the tree. 5 min
   

Main part:

2. 
   T sticks some piece of paper which are written new words on the blackboard and pp find the translations of these words. 3 min
   

3. 
   T explains a new grammar rule “Past simple”. Then T shows a video for giving some examples. 10 min
   
4. 
   Groups are given some grammar activities to know their understanding. 5 min
   

5. 
   Drawing picture activity: two pp come to the blackboard, one of them explains a picture and next one draws. Finally, T compare a pp’s drawing with a real one. 5 min
   

6. 
   T gives some words to both group. Then pp should find their definitions. In this task T evaluates the group which are first and doing truly. 2 min
   

Conclusion.

7. 
   In the last activity pp are given a calendar. They should write their own birthday date on it. Then T checks it and tells pp “Today is one of your classmates’ birthday” Pp sing a song “Happy birthday” 5 min
   

8. 
   Pp say poems about birthday. 2 min
   

Evaluating: T evaluates the pp which are active today’s lesson. 2 min
