“Our day begins at 7:40 a.m.”

The following are our guidelines for a safe and efficient drop-off

1. COME EARLY: You may drop your child off beginning at 7:05 each morning.

2. CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD: We are unloading approximately 200+ cars each morning. We need to have as many cars in the drop off lane as possible to expedite the flow.

3. ONLY 1 LANE USED FOR DROP OFF: No line jumping. Blockades are there for a reason.

4. HAVE STUDENTS UNBUCKLED AND READY TO EXIT: Students need to have their jackets, book bags, and lunch boxes ready to go so our Morning Duty assistants can help them get out of the car quickly. This should not be a problem since you must snake the parking lot to get to the drop off point.

5. FOR YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY EXIT FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE: Every now and then we have someone who becomes intolerably impatient and line jumps. We will be taking tag numbers and reporting them to the authorities. Our children’s safety comes first.

6. WEATHER CONDITIONS play a major part in our morning traffic routine. You must allow ample time. If for example, it is raining, more parents tend to drive their students to school than normal and traffic tends to move slowly. The car rider attendants that assist students in and out of the cars are not allowed to stand out in severe weather conditions; for example, while it is lightening/raining/snowing/etc.. This would be considered a hazard for our staff. Their assistance at morning and afternoon duty is simply a courtesy our school provides.

7. THE TARDY BELL RINGS AT 7:40 A.M. AND OUR DAY BEGINS: It is the policy of NCSS to mark students tardy who are not sitting in their classrooms when the tardy bell rings. A WARNING BELL WILL RING AT 7:35 A.M.: Students will have five minutes to be in their classrooms at that point.

8. AFTER 7:40 A.M. YOU MUST SIGN YOUR CHILD IN TO SCHOOL: We are aware that this is an inconvenience to many; however, pursuant to GA Code §19-10-1 to drop your child and drive away without signing them in is considered abandonment and neglect. We have the right and obligation to report such negligence to the proper authorities which include both local law enforcement and social services.

9. BEGINNING TOMORROW Thursday, August 14^th we will stop allowing parents to walk students to their classrooms after the tardy bell rings. This is for the safety of our students and to insure we make the most of our instructional day. If you have a scheduled conference or have made prior arrangements with the teacher to be in your child’s classroom you will be allowed to sign in and walk down the hallway.

9. PLEASE UNDERSTAND: Just because you are in the parking lot before the bell rings does not mean your child is “on time for school.” You must allow time for your student to leave the car and make it to class before the final bell rings at 7:40 a.m. Arriving in the parking lot at 7:30 will cause you to wait longer because everyone arrives at this time. We cannot be responsible for the time you choose to arrive. Come early; avoid the lines to be sure your child is on time.

10. BE ON TIME TO EAT – Students that need to eat breakfast at school will be marked tardy if they are not in their classrooms at 7:40. Please plan ahead and have your child here in time to eat.
