Overpopulation in many major urban centers around the world is a major problem. What are the causes of this problem solved?
Nobody would dispute the fact that one of the most conspicuous issues of the 21st century is overpopulation in many metropolises. This phenomenon is becoming an alarming concern in this developed world. Therefore, for the purpose of this essay I shall confine the discussion to some causes of this issue and examine several possible solutions that may be implemented to alleviate this problem.
There is myriad of aspects accountable for this soaring concern. However, imbalanced migration tends to be one of the most preponderant one. In this contemporary world, legion of individuals opt for resettling in big cities due to flux of reasons including education quality, medication, job opportunity, to mention but a few. In fact, education system and medicine in rural areas are generally deemed as a poor one, compared to these in municipal areas, and off the statistics, suburban areas contribute to an enormous proportion of the total number of unemployed individuals of the country. Moreover, high fertility rate and flourishing of medicine, that increase the lifespan of human-being and deteriorate the mortality rate, can also result in the population growth.
In order to resolve this problematic issue, I believe we must first address its root causes. Perhaps the most effective way of doing this would be for the government to allocate a large proportion of state budget to improve medical, educational and transportation infrastructure in rural and suburban areas, which have grant similar amenities as urban cities. As a matter of fact, people who reside in places where all kinds of facilities are provided, tend to evade shifting to developed areas. Furthermore, high birth rate should be controlled by the authority by imposing taxes on the families that have many children, or implementing “the one-child policy” program like in China, in 1980.
In light of above-mentioned facts, one can reach a conclusion that the issue of overpopulation, engendered by high migration and ever-increasing fertility rate, can be tackled by improving standard of living in rural areas as well as imposing harsh taxes for big families.
