Grammatical Constructions. The proverbs provide a concise way to illustrate many grammatical constructions in English and Uzbek. Point them out as you go along.
Review. Serious English students should reread these proverbs frequently. One reading in class is not enough. What you want is the cumulative effect over time of seeing a word used in actual proverbs again and again. At least one copy of each page should be left with each class for students to review on their own. Loan a set of the proverbs to the most serious students to reread at home.
Audio Cassette. Students may listen to these proverbs read outloud and repeat them for practice on an audio cassette. To make the audio cassette, simply tape record the class when you read the proverbs. Or students may use a voice synthesizer to hear these proverbs read outloud on a computer. An English voice synthezier will not pronounce the Uzbek perfectly, but it is close enough so the student can tell which sentence is being read.
