III. Discussion and analysis 
One of the objectives of modern school textbooks is to reveal the essence of updated 
education content by presenting structured, didactic and methodologically revised teaching 
materials on the basis of state educational standards and syllabuses. On this basis, the technology of 
creating new generation textbooks has been developed. 
According to the technology, first the learning material – textbook units are briefly described, 
and second, didactic units are presented, where pupils learn theories, perform experiments, repeat 
and fulfil tasks. The following have been designed as didactic units: self-study and self-assessment; 
experimental work and observation (for natural sciences); revision; additional information; 
experimental assignments (for natural sciences); fulfilment and task creation; algorithm search; 
knowledge systematization; problem solving; vocabulary; “Let’s play together!”; punch card; facet 
tests; formation of a sequence; intellectual ability; educational mosaics; field of knowledge; 
formula of knowledge. Below we will briefly look at these units. 
Self-study and self-assessment. With the help of this unit, pupils work independently on the 
reading text. Mastering the reading text is the basis for organizing the next learning activity. 
Traditional work on the reading text is done by reading, remembering, retelling and answering 
questions. 
Experimental work and observation (for natural sciences). Pupils are given assignments: 
experimenting, monitoring, reviewing samples related to nature and techniques, and so on. As a 
result, they come to a conclusion about the unit under study. At the teacher’s discretion, the 
experiment can be done either by demonstrating it to the public or the whole class. 
Revision. This unit contains learnt information about the units and themes of the course. This 
unit is mastered by pupils independently.
