INTRODUCTION (abstract of the dissertation of Doctor of Philosophy 
(PhD) 
The aim of the research 
is to improve the operational efficiency of mine 
compressor units based on improving the cooling system. 
The research object 
is the energy efficient operation of mine compressor units. 
The scientific novelty of the research
:
 
the dependence of changing in the temperature range of compressed air in the 
outlet of the intermediate refrigerator of a multi-stage compressor on the thickness of 
the layer and the temperature of the cooling water was established, which made it 
possible to determine the decrease of the efficiency of cooling the air entering the 
subsequent stage of the compressor; 
a mathematical model of the working processes of a reciprocating compressor 
with the use of a device for cooling intake air has been developed, which makes it 
possible to determine the efficiency and real productivity of the installation; 
a dependence of the change in the thickness of the layer of deposits on the 
surfaces of intermediate and end coolers on the operating time with different 
temperatures of water with and without a device for electromagnetic water treatment 
has been established; 
a device for softening the make-up water of the cooling system of compressor 
units has been developed, which helps to reduce the formation of scale on the heat 
exchange surfaces of the intermediate and end coolers of the compressor; 
the dependence of the change in the total hardness of water on its temperature in 
the developed device for softening the circulating water of the cooling system of 
compressor units has been established.
