13-15 April 2016, Ostrog (Ukraine)
Informational communication
The Reformation: East European Dimensions
Respected colleagues, we invite you to take part in the work of the Second International Scholarly-Practical conference in the series “Reformation 500.” The conference will take place 13-15 April at National University “Ostrog Academy” (ul. Seminarskaia 2, Ostrog, Rovenskaia obl., Ukraine).
Five-hundredth anniversary of the Reformation
In October 2017 the Christian world will commemorate five hundred years since the beginning of the European Reformation, one of the most important events of world history, which influenced the confessional situation in Europe and determined the direction of the further development of Western civilization as a whole. The celebration of the Reformation’s anniversary presents the opportunity to rethink the historical path of Protestantism and calls us to reevaluate the significance of the Reformation legacy for the contemporary world and examine its creative potential in the search for answers to contemporary challenges for Christian theology. With these factors in mind, the EAAA Resource and Research Center has initiated a cycle of inter-disciplinary scholarly-practical conferences dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. In April 2015 the first conference, entitled “The Reformation: History and the Contemporary World,” was held in Vilnius (Lithuania). The next conferences, “The Reformation: East European Dimensions” and “The Reformation and the Humanities” will take place in Ostrog (April 2016) and St. Petersburg (April 2017), respectively.
