The capital of Uzbekistan

  • Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan and the largest city in Central Asia. Tashkent lies in the northeastern part of the country. It is situated in the Chirchiq River valley west of the Chatkal Mountains. And also The name Tashkent, which means “Stone Village” in Uzbek, was first mentioned in the 11th century.
  • Today Tashkent is the main economic and cultural centre of Central Asia.

NATIONAL MEN’S CLOTHES

  • Uzbek national clothing is a whole layer of Uzbek culture
  • The foundation of the national Uzbek men’s clothing is a Chapan – quilted robe, which is tied with a waist scarf – kiyikcha.
  • Dressing gowns - chapans are served from striped material, have vertical cuts on the sides
  • The skullcap – duppi is the final attribute of the Uzbek male costume. This hat is more a tribute to the traditions of Islam than protection from bad weather.

Women’s national CLOTHES

  • The national dress of Uzbek women is a combination of modesty with feminity mystery
  • The Uzbek traditional clothes of the representing of beautiful half of humanity consisted of dresses(kuilak) and wide trousers(lozim).
  • Footwear consisted of Mahdi and boots made of coarse leather or rubber. These are very comfortable. Traditionally, the Uzbek women’s clothing was supplemention with decorations that were not forbidden by Islam.

Culture – tradition. Wedding ceremony

Wedding ceremony plays essential role Uzbek life, and celebrities as an important event .On the wedding day the imam of the mosque reads “ Hutbai Nikoh” (prayer for marriage) after which the young are declared husband and wife before God.

Weddings are often held noisy and merrily, a lot of people (guests) are invited to the wedding.

NATIONAL MEAL

  • People from Uzbek can be chiefly described as hospitable. You will certainly find yourself as a guest in an Uzbek house.
  • Pilaf is the most popular dish in Uzbekistan. You will almost always be served pilaf as a guest.
  • Pilaf is a king of the Uzbek national cuisine. Uzbek pilaf is the pride of the Uzbek people which became a symbol and a distinctive hallwork of Uzbekistan.

Traditional Festival “Uzbegim"

  • Festival is traditional culture in Uzbekistan. In the framework of events 50 best chiefs of Uzbekistan have managed to cook the largest Pilaf in the world and set a new Guiness World Record. The total weight of the pilaf exceeded 7 tons

Public holiday. Independence Day

  • Independence Day is a public holiday in Uzbekistan, observed on September 1st.
  • Known locally as ‘Mustaqillik Kuni’, this is Uzbekistan National Day and marks independence from the Soviet Union on September 1st 1991.
  • And heard the anthem of the country.

National identities. Flag

  • The national flag was approved by the Extraordinary 8th Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on November 18, 1991. The flag consists of blue, white, and green stripes, separated by two narrow red stripes. A crescent and three rows of twelve stars are situated on the left side of the upper blue stripe.

The State Emblem

  • The state Emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan on July 2, 1992. The emblem reflects a blossoming valley and a shining sun.The right side of The valley is set of with wheat and to the left with a cotton plant garland

Well-known cities of Uzbekistan. KHIVA

  • Khiva Is located in the Khorezm oasts inside the great Karakum Desert. In the 10th century, the region was home to great philosophers, including Abu Ali Ibn Sina and was the center of a major agricultural civilization.

SAMARKAND

  • Samarkand was founded at the same time as Babylon, Athens, and Rome- almost 2500 years ago. It has been called the Pearl of the Muslim World, Eden of Ancient East, and Rome of the East. Samarkand has been conquered many times by Alexander The Great, Genghis Khan, and Tamerlane.

BUKHARA

  • City, south-central Uzbekistan, located about 140 miles west of Samarkand. It was the capital of Samanid dynasty in the 9th and 10th centuries. Bukhara’s structures are the oldest structures rather than others.

Holidays in Uzbekistan. NAVRUZ

  • The Navruz holiday in Uzbekistan is one of the most beloved, colorful and fun-filled celebration in the country. It is celebrated on the March 21, the spring equinox when daylight and darkness are of equal length. However the dish of the holiday is sumalak. Although customarily cooked the night before Navruz, it can be made any time in early spring.
