1.2. Theoretical foundations for the comparative study of 
synonymy 
Synonyms can be nouns, adverbs or adjectives, as long as both members 
of the pair are of the same part of speech. 
Taking a philosophical view of synonymy that the language is 
“subordinated” to spoken language, and spoken language is “subordinated” to 
mental language, we can state that the terms of mental language are concepts, its 
propositions are mental judgments. Whereas the signification of terms in spoken 
and written language is purely conventional and can be changed, hence in

, the signification of terms 
(concepts) in mental language is established by nature once and for all. 
An interesting approach to the analysis of synonymy in Uzbek, for 
example, is represented in the work by Daniyarov H.D., which is devoted to the 
study of synonyms created on the base of borrowings. Such synonyms are 
called by the author Russian-International borrowings. The approach puts an 
accent on the description of the peculiarities of functioning of such synonymic 
equivalents, especially their semantic, stylistic, derivational, functional and 
grammatical originality in unity. The author claims that only a complex 
multiaspect study of such units could facilitate the solution of one of the most 
important problems of Uzbek linguistics – the problem of qualification and 
usage of lexical borrowings in the modern Uzbek language. Such an analysis
