INTRODUCTION
English literature is a part of the global literary canon. Its most illustrious national traditions have contributed significantly to the enrichment and growth of world literature. Poetry, fiction, and drama written in the English language by writers from England, Scotland, and Wales make up English literature. Many great authors have come from these lands.
English literature is a diverse body of work. It contains works of art in a number of genres, including novels, short stories, epic and lyric poetry, essays, literary criticism, and drama. English literature is one of the world's oldest national literatures. From the turn of the fourteenth century to the present, the masters of English literature have counted among the world's greatest literary figures. Popular authors include Geoffrey Chaucer, William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, Daniel Defoe, Jonathan Swift, George Gordon Byron, Charles Dickens, Bernard Shaw, John Galsworthy, and many more. A significant number of authors, poets, and playwrights from other countries have been inspired by their style of writing. People's history and national peculiarities are reflected in national literature. Each national literature has a lot in common with global literary development, but it also has its own distinct characteristics. The fact that English writers have always been intensely interested in the political and social climate of their time is one of their defining characteristics. They are part of the real world, which has a significant impact on what they write and how they write. What happens in the writer's study is important, but it also shows the relevance of what happens in the rest of the world.
