Middle School
Theater 
The goal for each unit is to build off the knowledge and skills gained in the 
previous unit, so students are gradually adding to their abilities as they progress 
through diverse types of scene performance assessments. Students begin with 
the acting basics they need to create a successful scene: ensemble skills, 
improvisation, projection, vocal clarity and expression, characterization, 
pantomime, objective, and tactics. They will learn script structure, blocking, and 
stage directions and how to give, receive and apply feedback. They will explore 
aspects beyond acting such as directing and simple set design.
Middle School
Focus Math 
This course is designed to support students and help close their academic gaps 
in mathematics. The Middle School Principal will consider test scores, teacher 
input and parent input when determining eligibility for this course.
Middle School
Focus Reading 
This course is designed to support students and help close their academic gaps 
in Reading. The Middle School Principal will consider test scores, teacher input 
and parent input when determining eligibility for this course.
Middle School
Home Management 
This course is like Home Economics. Students will learn skills essential to 
managing a household and may include baking, cooking, sewing, basic tool 
understanding, setting tables, shopping, budgeting, financial basics, and basic 
home repair.
Middle School
Athletic Training 
This course is designed to work on specific athletic skills in a student’s sport of 
interest. This is an advanced course implemented for students to improve their 
athletic capabilities with the help of a coach.
Middle School Media 
This course is designed as a project-based course that allows students to 
creatively express themselves and communicate information through graphics, 
print media, photographs, digital platforms, and other emerging forms of media. 
This course may require students’ participation in after school activities for 
documenting and reporting purposes.
