«BENEFITS AND OBSTACLES OF TEACHING
ENGLISH IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS»
Abstract:
The preparation of the schools and the competence levels of the pupils
are important considerations while teaching English in primary schools. Schools will
be ready to teach English if they have enough English teachers, media, and textbooks.
It is because primary schools teach children aged 6 to 12 years old, and this is seen to
be the optimum time to study. Based on theories and research findings, this article will
analyze the benefits and obstacles, and then suggests numerous solutions to the
difficulties that can be used as references by schools to deliver high-quality English
teaching and learning.

Introduction.
English has become one of the foreign languages taught in
Uzbekistan's schools, alongside local and national languages. English was not formerly
taught in elementary schools, but it is now considered necessary for a variety of
objectives, including science, technology, culture, and the like. As a result, the
government of Uzbekistan has decided to integrate English in the basic school
curriculum.
Teaching English in primary schools’ entails working with pupils aged 6 to 12,
who are considered to be young learners. Because they are still young, kids will arrive
in class with varying degrees of English proficiency. They may speak good English,
while the rest may have no knowledge of the language. This issue results in a disparity
in pupils' motivation to study English. Some say English is simple and pleasurable,
while others believe it is tough and tedious. Furthermore, students who are particularly
interested in English should be given the opportunity to participate in an appropriate

English class, while students who are not interested in studying English should be
motivated and encouraged to do so.
To summarize, teaching English in primary schools must provide numerous
challenges. For young learners, English can be both beneficial and harmful. It may be
advantageous if the activities are engaging and relevant to the lives of young learners.
It will also encourage them to study English. On the other hand, if the activities are not
enjoyable and relevant to the lives of young learners, it might be harmful. As a result,
they will despise learning English.
Several studies in the area of teaching English in elementary schools have been
undertaken in conjunction with that assertion. Textbooks, English teachers, parental
awareness, students' social standing, students' interests, and so on are examples. The
statement that there are numerous obstacles and challenges in teaching English in
elementary schools is correct based on these occurrences. As a result, providing
solutions can assist schools in resolving issues that may arise during the actual
implementation of English teaching-learning processes in schools. The answers can be
found through providing English teachers with training, informing parents about the
importance of English, and inspiring students.
Because there are so many obstacles in teaching English in elementary schools,
these concerns require additional attention and analysis. As a result, a number of study
questions are offered, including: What are the benefits of teaching English in primary
schools? What are the obstacles of teaching English in primary schools? and What are
the solutions to the problems of teaching English in primary schools? As a result, the
research's goals are to identify the advantages and challenges of teaching English in
elementary schools, as well as to develop solutions to the problems.
