Tips •
Allot a window of time when scheduling a truck/trailer coming into the plant for loading
. (Say
10.15 AM to 10.25 AM) Planned Time
•
Analyze the actual time of entry and the variance, if any.
•
The sum of the positive variance and the sum of the negative variance need to be added
discarding the sign over the period of review.
•
Reward transporters who maintain the time with the least variance and penalize transporters
where there are delays (indicating considerable variance) over the review period.

Summary 1.
All activities related to planning and scheduling an appropriate vehicle on a particular bay for
loading/unloading was discussed.

The visual indicators for good logistic practices/efficiency and the concept of Bay Turnaround
Time ware elaborated.

An associate should be able to plan for a right vehicle and a bay no and ensure the scheduling
is such that the truck reaches the planned bay and completes the loading activity with the
least time elapsed.
4.
As regards EXIM cargo, the sealing of containers needs to be done. The details of the load on
a particular container number, the vehicle number the RFID seal number etc. needs to be
recorded in the ERP both for document generation as well as to communicate to the CHA who
in turn will ensure proper seal verification by customs authority at the CFS for onward
movement of the vehicle into the port within the time slot made available by the liner of the
vessel to take the export cargo on board the vessel.
