Materials: text book handouts, board and a computer, pictures, marker
Warm up: Ice-braker speaking activity
Objectives: to prepare students for the lesson, activate their background knowledge in top-own processing
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: text –book, board and the chalk
Mode of interaction: whole class
Introduce the topic of the lesson. Ss cover the text and look at the large photo on p64-65. Ask, e.g. What are the people doing? Where arethey? What are theywearing? Elicit Ss' answers and teach new words using the photo.

Activity - 1

Objective: to enable Students to make notes while they watch the DVD video
Time: 25 minutes.
Materials: copies of the text from the book as handouts
Mode of interaction: group work and pair work
Procedure: Ss watch the DVD and make notes while they watch. Elicit answers in feedback.
Suggested answer: People are now able to monitor themselves (self- monitoring) and this might mean they can take care of their own health better. Hospitals and doctors might not need to monitor our health so much because we can do it ourselves. Check the rubric and any unfamiliar words in the questions, e.g heart, blood-alcohol level. Monitor while Ss work in pairs. In feedback, elicit answers but don't confirm them yet- Ss will check them in Ex ZC. Play the DVD for Ss to check their answers. Pause after each answer to allow Ss time to check.
