Abstract 

The  highlands  in  the  eastern  Black  Sea,  attracts the  attention  of  local  and  foreign 

tourists  in  recent  times  with  its  natural  beauties  and  cultural  and  regional  features.  It  is 

observed that the highlands  in the region have been  faced with the interest of particularly 

conservative  Arab  tourists  in  the  recent  period.  Therefore,  it  is  important  that  the 

accommodation  facilities  in the highland, such as Ayder Highland  in the region, have the 

necessary infrastructure and equipment for conservative tourists. Therefore this study was 

prepared with the aim of examining how the accommodation facilities in Ayder Highland 

have the necessary infrastructure and equipment for conservative tourists.  It was preferred 

case study as a research method in this study. There were used travel-observation and survey 

form as data collection method. The universe of the research is the accommodation facilities 

in  Ayder  Plateau.  In  this  context,  it  was  conducted  a  face-to-face  survey  with  11 

accommodation authorities with simple random sampling in Ayder Highland. The study was 

shaped  in  the  light  of  the  information  obtained  from  field  researches  and  survey  form. 

According to the data we obtained from our survey study; the accommodation facilities in 

Ayder  Highland  are  largely  available  for  conservative  tourists,  the  ablution  and  prayer 

opportunities  are  largely  present,  alcohol  products  are  not  presented,  pigs  and  piglets 

products are not used, and largely, prayer rug and the Qur'an are available in the rooms to 

be  supportive  of  halal  tourism  features.  However, there  is  no  halal  tourism  or  halal  food 

certificate in the accommodation facilities in the highland, and the different areas of worship 

for women and men, as well as non-entertainment and activities that are not supportive of 

halal tourism. In this context, we think that development of accommodation opportunities 

for  conservative  domestic  and  Arabian  tourists  in  Ayder  Highland  in  the  form  of  halal 

tourism  at  least  as  part  of  the  accommodation  facilities  will  be  useful  in  increasing  the 

touristic attraction of the highland in the region.
