CHAPTER 5 THE INFLUENCE OF REGIONAL FACTORS ON THE MOTOR ACTIVITY OF STUDENTS
The motor activity of students is influenced not only by seasonal fluctuations caused by changes in weather conditions, but also by social factors, in particular, the study regime. The lowest indicators of motor activity were observed during the rehabilitation sessions. All the above-mentioned studies devoted to the study of seasonal fluctuations in the motor activity of students were conducted on the basis of recording the number of steps performed per day.
In our research, we found it possible to limit ourselves to the registration of motor activity recorded using a pedometer. While acknowledging the criticism of the insufficient accuracy of inertia-type pedometers is fair, we still believe that these devices have a right to exist and can be used. We see the reasons for this in the existence of exceptionally large differences in motor activity, which are registered in different people, or in the same person on different days.
In fact, according to literary sources, the motor activity of children can range from 6000 steps per day (extremely low motor activity) to 33000-34000 thousand steps over the same period (exceptionally high motor activity). As we can see, the differences in the indicators of motor activity reach 5-fold values, in these conditions, an error of 10-15% is not fundamental, since even with such a large measurement inaccuracy, after all, the main trend in the dynamics of motor activity indicators will be caught quite clearly in this case.
The second possible criticism regarding the registration of motor activity up to the indicators of the number of steps in walking and running performed per day is that not every motor activity is expressed in the number of steps, there are a lot of examples of very intensively performed physical exercises, which, nevertheless, pedometers are not registered they will. These are, for example, many gymnastic exercises on shells and without shells, weightlifting exercises and even swimming. Thus, the registration of the number of steps performed over a certain time does not fully reflect the total motor activity of a person. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that the main part of the total motor activity is recorded with acceptable accuracy.
Another possible advantage of registering motor activity by recording the total number of steps performed per day is the fact that currently quite significant data on the motor activity of various contingents, differing in age, gender and social affiliation, have been accumulated in the literature. This makes it possible to compare the results obtained with the results of other researchers, which naturally expands the possibilities of analysis.
